KODIE, our Huge 54" Kodiak Teddy Bear, sometimes called the Gentle Giant, is a New Addition to our Supersized Huge "The Bigger... The Better" Category of Extra Large Teddy Bears. Made by Purr-fection, manufacturer of premium plush animals and gifts, KODIE can be posed in either the sitting or laying down position - its very soft fur feels like mink, quite unlike the real Kodiak bear, and it has lock-washer eyes and a plather nose for complete child safety. This is more than an armful of hugs and really makes a unique and treasured gift for a lifetime.
KODIE because of its extra large size is dedicated to the Kodiak bear, recognized as a distinct bear species living on Kodiak Island in Alaska. It frequently reaches a size double that of even the grizzly bear. While there have been some rare instances of mauling, there are no recorded deaths caused by the Kodiak bear, even though there are some 3,000 of them living on the island, often in close proximity to the people. Actually they are considered quite shy.
The Kodiak bear mothers look after their cubs until they're two years old, feeding them and teaching them to fend for themselves. The Kodiak bear fathers do what most males do in the animal kingdom and then go off by themselves to catch salmon, gather berries, and hibernate. The Kodiak bear has a unique place in the wildlife of America, and we have, therefore, dedicated KODIE, the largest of our plush animal Collection to the great HUGE Kodiak bear.
For the sake of accuracy we must mention that the true Kodiak bear is brown. We have taken some internet liberties to add the BIG BIG Black 54" KODIE as an order option for those who prefer the look of the Black Bear. Note the big plather claws on the Black KODIE Bear.
REMINDER: Please note that KODIE is much too large for any of our gift boxes and, therefore, we cannot gift wrap this item in the traditional sense. We will, however, protect it with tissue wrapping inside the shipping carton, and we'll be glad to include a gift card with your own personalized message in the package.
